At Vlinder Expressive Arts Therapy, we’re always evolving — guided by our values of intention, safety, belonging, discovery and wonder.

Today we’re writing to share 3 important updates about our group services:

1. Fee Adjustment from 1 August

For many years, we’ve absorbed NDIS pricing changes quietly, ensuring no impact on participants. However, due to the scale of this year’s adjustments, we will be introducing a small increase to our group service fees. Our current fee for our 90 minute Creative Journaling group will increase from $45 to $55. This price change will be effective from 1 August 2025.

This gentle shift allows us to continue offering thoughtful, meaningful group experiences with the same level of care, materials, and therapeutic intention that families and participants trust.

The price change will apply to all group bookings made from 1 August
All existing bookings and plans confirmed before this date will remain at the current rate
All Support Coordinators and self-managed participants will receive a letter with this information.
We are here to support you in navigating any changes for your participants — feel free to reach out if you'd like to review individual plans or budgets together.

2. Thursday Groups Now Weekly!

We’re thrilled to share that due to increasing interest and strong engagement, our Thursday Creative Journaling groups will move from fortnightly to weeklysessions starting July 17th!

This means more consistency, deeper group connection and more opportunities for creative expression — all within the same familiar and nurturing environment.

We’re excited to offer this expanded availability to new and continuing participants alike, and we welcome referrals for the new term.

3. Travel Charges – Update from 1 July

In line with the latest NDIS pricing arrangements, and in a spirit of transparency, we wish to let you know that travel charges will now be billed at 50% of the standard hourly rate for any support provided off-site (including home visits, schools or community settings).

This adjustment helps us continue offering mobile sessions while honouring the time and care our therapists dedicate to travel.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the Vlinder community. Your ongoing trust and collaboration help us continue doing what we do best: creating spaces where creative participants can feel seen, safe, and inspired to grow.

Feedback from our Weave Therapy group on June 21st!

This past Saturday, our studio was quietly humming with creativity, connection and calm as a small circle of women gathered for Jo-Anne Knight's Weaving for Wellbeing workshop at Vlinder.

Nestled into the peaceful rhythm of core, needles and thread, our creative participants explored not just the art of weaving, but the deeper threads of self-discovery, stillness and shared stories.

For many, it was a first time trying this tactile craft—and what a joy it was to witness new skills unfurl, mistakes welcomed as part of the process, and curiosity taking the lead. As the afternoon light drifted through the windows, so too did gentle conversations, laughter and moments of meaningful reflection.

Weaving became more than a physical practice—it invited mindfulness, sparked memories and offered a metaphor for life’s own tangled, beautiful strands.

Workshops like these remind us why we do what we do at Vlinder: to create spaces where creativity becomes a bridge to belonging, gentle self-inquiry and wonder. We are so grateful to those who joined us and contributed to the warmth of the group.

If you missed out, don’t worry—there are more gatherings to come!
